What is JD’S Package Store & Redemption Center?

JD’S Package Store & Redemption Center is a locally owned business in East Waterboro, Maine. We are three businesses in one: a retail package store and liquor store, a wholesale liquor provider for qualified Maine businesses, and a large local redemption center.

Customers come to us for beer, wine, spirits, kegs, gifts, snacks, special orders, bottle redemption, bottle drives, event drink planning, and wholesale liquor service.

We’re open 365 days a year and have over 30,000 items in stock.

What is a “package store” versus a "liquor store?"

“Package store” is just a more traditional term for a liquor store or retail alcohol store. They’re ultimately the same thing.

At JD’S, it means you can shop for beer, wine, liquor, mixers, kegs, gifts, snacks, and more. We use both terms because some customers know us as a package store, while others are simply searching for a liquor store near East Waterboro.

Where is JD’S located?

JD’S is located at:

13 Sokokis Trail / Route 5
East Waterboro, Maine 04030

We serve customers from East Waterboro, Waterboro, Limerick, Alfred, Hollis, Buxton, Lyman, Sanford, Dayton, Old Orchard Beach, and nearby communities.

Are the package store hours and redemption center hours the same?

No. The package store and redemption center have different hours.

If you are coming in for bottle redemption, please use the redemption center hours. If you are coming in to shop for beer, wine, liquor, gifts, kegs, or special orders, please check the store hours or call ahead with any questions.

Liquor and Beverages

Do you sell beer, wine, and liquor?

Yes. JD’S carries beer, wine, liquor, craft beer, ciders, mixers, kegs, specialty beverages, and more.

We stock more than 700 wines, more than 900 beers, and more than 30,000 total items throughout the store. Whether you are shopping for an everyday bottle, planning a party, or looking for something specific, we are happy to help.

How do I find out what liquor you carry?

You can call us, stop into the store, or use Maine’s statewide liquor product lookup system to check availability and pricing.

If you are looking for something specific, the easiest option is often to contact us directly. We can help you figure out whether the item is available, whether we have it in stock, or whether it may be possible to special order it.

Can JD’s special order liquor, wine, beer, or other items?

Yes. If an item is available in the State of Maine, we will do our very best to get it for you.

We can help with special orders for liquor, wine, specialty beer, hard-to-find bottles, kegs, and other requested items when available. Call the store or stop in and let us know what you are looking for.

How much notice should I give for a special order?

If you need a special order by a specific date, please give us at least two weeks’ notice.

That gives us time to find where the item comes from, confirm that it is in stock with the distributor, and work through the ordering process. We will always do our best, but availability is not guaranteed.

Can I order a keg?

Yes. We can help you order kegs for parties, weddings, camp weekends, family gatherings, and events. However, we do not keep kegs on hand in the store.

Please call or stop in to ask about the keg you want at least two weeks prior to your event. We don’t keep kegs on hand regularly, and only stock them for customers on request.

How far ahead should I order a keg?

Please give us at least two weeks’ notice for keg orders, as we do not normally carry them in the store.

Kegs need to be checked for availability before they are ordered. Once we confirm availability, you will need to come into the store and pay before the keg order is placed.

What keg brands are usually available?

Bud Light, Budweiser, Miller Lite, and Coors Light are always available to be ordered. However, you must order two weeks in advance, as we do not normally carry these.

Specialty and seasonal beers must be checked for availability. If you have a specific beer in mind, call or stop in, and we will look into it for you.

What keg sizes are available?

Kegs generally come in two sizes.

A large keg is a 1/2 keg. A small keg may be a 1/4 keg or a 1/6 keg, depending on the distributor.

If you are not sure which size makes sense for your event, we can help you think through your guest count, drink preferences, and event type.

Is there a keg deposit?

Yes. Kegs require a $30 deposit, which is returned once the keg is returned. Please keep in mind that you must order kegs two weeks in advance, as we do not normally carry kegs.

Can I rent a tap?

Yes. Tap rentals are available with a $60 deposit, which is returned once the tap is returned.

Do I need help picking up a keg?

Please bring someone to help load the keg into your vehicle if you cannot safely lift it alone.

Half kegs are very heavy. We want customers to plan ahead so pickup is safe and easy.

How do I check current sales?

You can call the store, stop in, or check JD’S current sales updates online.

If you are planning a larger order, party, wedding, or event, we can help you look at current specials and compare budget-friendly options.

We also carry a wide variety of other gift, home, food, novelty, and seasonal items.

Do you sell Maine souvenirs and holiday items?

Do you carry party games, greeting cards, and novelty candy?

If you are heading to a gathering, hosting friends, visiting camp, or looking for a quick gift, it is worth taking a look around.

Can I stop in for a last-minute gift?

Please make sure your containers are clean, empty, not crushed, not broken, and purchased in Maine.

Why can’t bottles and cans be crushed or broken?

Crushed, broken, dirty, or damaged containers may not be accepted.

Do I need to bring bottles in a specific bag or box?

No. JD’S does not have specific bag or box requirements.

Please make sure your containers are clean, empty, not crushed, not broken, and purchased in Maine.

Do you count returns by hand?

Yes. JD’S hand-counts returns.

Hand-counting helps us process returns carefully and maintain a personal level of service. Larger returns may take more time, especially during busy periods.

Can I donate my bottle returns to a local organization?

Yes, if the organization has already set up a bottle drive with JD’S.

Once a bottle drive is set up, supporters can dedicate eligible bottle and can returns to that organization.

How does an organization set up a bottle drive?

The organization simply needs to call or stop by JD’S to set up the drive.

Once the drive is active, the organization is responsible for promoting it to its own supporters. JD’s does not promote one bottle drive over another, but we make the redemption side simple and easy to use.
